Continuous Hinges are used in a wide variety of applications. Originating from use on pianos (hence the crossover term of "piano hinge"), continuous hinges help to distribute the load of the moving part thoughout the application. Our Continuous Hinges can be cut to size to suit the length of the application, and can be pierced, polished or finished to suit.
At Gold and Wassall we offer a huge range of continuous hinges. Our range can be made from ¾" open to 12″ open, in 22g up to 3/16″ material, right up to 96″ lengths. 72″ continuous hinges without holes, and self-colour, are always available from stock for immediate dispatch.

Hinge Materials
304/316 Stainless Steel
The majority of our products come in 304 Stainless Steel. However, we do also offer 316 stainless steel, ideal for marine and refinery hinges. It resists pitting and chemical damage in harsh, saline, or acidic environments, offering unparalleled longevity and structural integrity where standard steels would fail.

Mild Steel
In the world of metallurgy, mild steel is the "everyman" of metals. It’s a type of low-carbon steel that balances strength, ductility, and affordability, making it the most commonly used form of steel on the planet.
>
Brass
Brass is a premium, non-magnetic material that offers excellent natural lubricity, ensuring smooth hinge operation without constant maintenance. It is highly resistant to soft-water corrosion and is frequently chosen for its aesthetic appeal in high-end marine fittings or specialised architectural hardware.
>
Aluminium
Aluminium hinges are prized for their high strength-to-weight ratio and natural corrosion resistance. Being significantly lighter than steel, they are perfect for aerospace, automotive, and modern transport applications where reducing fuel consumption and "dead weight" is a critical design priority.
